DD: 50 YEARS IN THE MAKING… God Delivered!

I met this woman and she’s something more…

September 7, 2018, I didn’t have a clue that God was setting me up to write, “5o YEARS IN THE MAKING… God Delivered!” Anyway, I went to a beauty supply store looking for a hair bun. Yes, I wanted to change my look. That’s what we women do! Anyway, I talked with DD, the owner, for a bit and right away I knew she was a Christian… and a talker. The woman can talk, you hear me! We all know someone that talks and talks and talks… uh-huh. Well she’s that! But one thing I’ll say about DD, she talks good stuff (Godly wisdom, life lessons, beauty supply advice, encouragement, wittiness, witnessing, you name it).

DD is warm, welcoming, loving, sincere, speaks her truth, talks straight from her heart and genuinely loves and cares for people. For sure, when you walk out her store, you walk away inspired, encouraged, uplifted and feeling good. I’ve been to a few beauty supply stores but there was something different about this one. I felt at home. I felt a spiritual connection.

God told me: “She has a story I want people to know”

A month later, October 7, 2018, after I published “Sharita’s Unwavering FAITH took her from ZERO to sHERO” I asked God who’s next? God said, “I want you to write about the owner of the beauty supply store. She has a story I want people to know. Ask her “What’s your story?”” I said okay Father.

Saturday, October 12, 2018, around noon, on my way from the car shop, I was feeling hungry and was contemplating what to do since I was going grocery shopping (which I really don’t like).  Right then the Holy Spirit reminded me that I needed to stop at the beauty supply store to talk with DD and He told me to buy her lunch. So I decided to stop at a Chinese restaurant and thought, “I don’t know what this woman likes.” Right then the Holy Spirit told me to get her chicken with broccoli so I ordered.

So, what’s your story?

When I walked into the store DD said, “You brought me lunch!” I said, “Yes.” She was already eating so I said, “Well, you can have it for dinner.” Then she said “I got to see what you brought me.” When she looked she said, “This is my favorite!” I thought, God You are something else! Then I said to her, “God told me to write about you and ask you what’s your story?” Her eyes opened wide and jaw dropped, she was in shock and said “God wants you to write about me? Did you ask Him why?” I said, “No. I just do what He tells me to do. You have a story He wants people to know. So what’s your story?”

Now let’s fast forward to Tuesday, January 29, 2019, 3:00 a.m., I was in bed talking with God and He said to me, “You must finish DD’s story.” And that’s exactly what I did between 3:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m.. I was done just in time to get ready to start teleworking at 6:30 a.m. and put in a full day’s work. That evening at 6:49 p.m. I texted DD and told her what God told me and that I’d stop by the next day after work with a copy for her to review and approve. When I saw DD I told her that I felt an urgency from God because somebody needs this message. Somebody needed to be encouraged by knowing that God delivered His promise and not give up.

Here we go! DD’s story in her own words…

I was an orphan eating out of trash cans…

In Korea when I was 2 years old my parents left me on the step of a store front. It wasn’t until a lady came down the hill and found me and took me to the city orphanage. The orphanage had over 300 girls. If there was no rice or if you didn’t make the table to eat rice, you didn’t eat. When you got hungry you turned to the street to eat, you go into the trash cans and find food to eat. I remember eating less than 10 times during my 10 years in the orphanage but I was spiritually nourished. When you don’t have, Jesus spiritually nourishes your body to survive.

God promised me I’d own a store… yeah right!

When I was a young child, maybe 5 or 6 years old, God told me, Jesus Christ told me, “One day you’re going to be a store owner, you’re going to own a store.” I said, “Sheesh. Yeah right!” In order to do that as a child you got to have family backing you, you got to have lots of money. Money is one thing I didn’t have. I didn’t have a penny to my name. This was the first time I heard it.

The second time I heard it I was older, maybe 8 or 9 years old. Again I said, “Sheesh.” That was impossible! I didn’t know whether I was going to eat or not and this voice was telling me what I’m going to have in my future. Sheesh!

The third time I heard it I was maybe 11 years old. During 9 and 12 I had other revelations like, you’ll be going to America, you’ll never be hungry again. God gave me a vision of an American kitchen, mountains and cows. I was a child so I didn’t know what I was looking at. The next time I heard it I was a teenager. By that time I was adopted and was in Europe, Netherlands.

After I graduated from high school I came to the United States. As a young person going through college and everything else young people go through, God reminded me again. It seemed like every five years I had a different job, learning various tasks. Likewise every five years God continued to remind me about what I was going to have. It was so routine since I was accustomed hearing it from a very young age, I was like “Whatever!”

50 years in the making… God delivered!

I started working at a beauty supply store. Every day I fight with the Lord, “I don’t want to be here. I don’t want this. I don’t like this.” Meanwhile I’m smiling with the customers. It wasn’t until a couple years in the job that I accepted the job and the minute I said “Okay” God told me “You’re in job training.” I said “Excuse me! I’m in job training every day!” That’s when God opened up my eyes and I started learning the beauty supply industry.

The store owner closed the store and I was moved to run another one of her stores. Then she decided to close this store too and offered it to me. I still didn’t have a dime to my name so how would this happen? God worked on the banker’s and the owner’s hearts and they worked with me. Jesus Christ laid the foundation for me because I had no cash to hand over. By God’s amazing grace I became the owner of Grace Beauty Supply 3 LLC.

From the first time God told me that I was going to own a store, it took almost 50 years for Him to deliver. God delivered!

Never Give up on God!

I know I’m talking to someone right now, this message is for you. God delivered His promise to DD and He will do the same for you. How long have you been waiting on God… 5, 15, 30, 60 years? Don’t give up! You hear me! Never give up on God! God never gives up on you! He waits on you so you wait on Him. He will deliver His promise, no matter how it looks or how long it takes. What seems impossible to you is always possible for God. You just got to be patient, hold on and trust God to come through for you as He did for DD. God loves you! He is faithful to you and will deliver on His promise. When you need Him, He will show-up and show-out too. Lol! God will give you the victory and He will get the glory! You will also say, “God delivered!”

Bible Reflection

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14 NLT

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 NIV

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20 NLT

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6 NLT

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1 NLT

What has God promised you? How long have you been waiting? Are thinking of giving up?

I know… you’re anxious and wondering… Will God come through for me? Will things ever get better?  When is my breakthrough coming? Where is my light at the end of the tunnel?

Keep the faith. Don’t stop believing. Be patient. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Wait on God. Hold on. Keep trusting God. He will come through for you! God will deliver what He promised you! I know this because He has done it for me over and over again! God delivered! Alleluia!
