Get up and move in 2021! The holiday season is over. And yes, we’ve been exercising our mouths, now it’s time to exercise the rest of our bodies. Lol! To top that off, many of us been shut-in since March 2020 due to COVID-19 and working from home. And there is not much moving around much less exercise. We roll out of bed, sit in front of the computer for hours, eat, sit to watch television or check social media, then go to bed. At least when we were going out to work, we did a little more moving. Hello! This sedentary life is negatively affecting the health of many people. That’s why we need to Get UP and MOVE!
I encourage you to Get UP and MOVE in 2021!
I encourage you to Get UP and MOVE in 2021 if you are not doing so already. Look, I’m 58 years, 7 months young, and thanks to God I can Get UP and MOVE. Don’t get me wrong. I have my aches and pains and health issues. And there are days I feel every bit of my age. But you know what? As long as God wakes me up and gives me the energy and strength to Get UP and MOVE, I will. Because there is going to come a day that I want to get up and move and I will not be able to do so. That’s the way life goes.
So, my dear GiJiM friends, unless you have an impediment, I encourage you to Get UP and MOVE your body! It’s for your good and most importantly your health.
I’ve shared this with you before, I don’t like to exercise but I love to eat and as I age my metabolism has slowed down and goes on extended vacations. I know some of y’all know exactly what I mean. Therefore, to do what I love to do, eat, I have to do what I don’t like to do, exercise. Sometimes you just have to do the things you don’t like to do for the greater good and its benefits. Exercise is just one of those things. I encourage you to find some type of physical activity, okay. Just Get UP and MOVE!
Exercise Ideas
I mixup my exercise routine and try to workout at least five days in the week. At least twice a week I do at least 4 miles (1 running, 3 walking) on the treadmill and at least three times a week I ride my stationary bike for at least one hour. I also do arm exercises with my 3 lbs. dumbbells and abs crunches, when I remember. Lol! Okay, so I’m not telling you to do what I do. What I’m encouraging you to do is to Get UP and MOVE. Do your own thing!
At-Home Workout
Since many of us are confined in our homes and many gyms are closed and if opened, many people don’t feel comfortable going, we have to find ways to do some type of physical activity inside our homes and outside when possible. Walk inside your house to burn calories. If weather permits, walk outdoors, ride your bicycle. If you have stairs in your home or you live in a condo or apartment building with stairs, if physically able, walk up and down the stairs, that’ll give you a good workout. There are standing, sitting and floor exercises. And please check with your doctor first before beginning any type of exercise program.
There are all kinds of home workout YouTube videos for all ages to fit your current fitness level that will improve and maintain a healthy body. And there are numerous articles that will help you find the best exercises for you, learn how to do the exercises correctly to get the best results, start or modify a workout routine, etc..
It’s time for you to take care of you. It’s for your good, your health! You are so worth it! Sadly we’ve lost many loved ones due to COVID-19. That’s a testament that tomorrow is not promised. So let’s do all we can do while we are still here and able to do.
Ok, so I‘ve encouraged you, hopefully motivated you and now I challenge you to Get UP and MOVE in 2021! Yes you can! YAY!
