Sharita Rouse was one of the vendors at the Stafford’s Festival and Community Food Drive for S.E.R.V.E., Inc., held on September 22, 2018. She is the owner of “Tummy YumYum Gourmet Candy Apples” and was promoting and selling her delicious candy apples. Wilma Little (owner of Heaven’s Gate Catering), the event organizer, introduced us and said to me, you have to hear her testimony about how she started her business. Her story of unwavering faith. So of course I was curious and wanted to know her story.

At the opportune time I asked her to come over to my tent to share her testimony with a group of us. Sharita’s story was powerful, compelling and inspiring. After she was done I was in “awe” and said to her, “I need to write your story! We need to let the world know what God has done and is doing for you!”  

Sharita’s Amazing Story of Unwavering Faith

Let’s get right into Sharita’s story of unwavering faith, in her own words. Tell it girl… 

March 16, 2016  we (our dental office) suffered the loss of a 4 year old child due to aspiration. The state came in and closed down the office, meaning, I had to find employment elsewhere. After 5 months, the office re-opened and I was asked to return. Business was very slow, I went from working 5 days a week to 1 maybe 2 days. There was no way I could meet my obligations doing this. I said to my co-worker that I had to find something to do to supplement my income. At that very moment, I heard God say, “Do Candy Apples.” I laughed because I’d never made Candy Apples before. As I was telling my coworker this, I heard the name Tummy YumYum Gourmet Candy Apples.

That night I posted to Facebook, “Coming Fall 2017 Tummy YumYum Gourmet Apples” just to see if people would be interested. The next day I woke up to 8 orders and it has taken on a life of its own. A company invested in my business. I have been featured on an Iheart radio show. I was invited to NY Fashion Week and did so well I was invited back! In April 2018 I quit my day job as an Oral Surgery Assistant and haven’t regretted it once.

Sharita stepped out in faith into victory

Sharita heard God’s voice and did what He told her to do. She didn’t know how things were going to work out but she trusted God and stepped out in faith into victory. She went from being an Oral Surgery Assistant, barely making ends meet to Owner of Tummy YumYum Gourmet Candy Apples, a booming business. This is the Power of God in action! Amazing!  

This amazing story repeats itself over and over again. God speaks to you, tells you to do something you never thought of doing or have never done or that takes you out of your comfort zone. So what do you do? Do you step out in faith into victory like Sharita? Or do you ignore God or think it over or procrastinate or are you consumed by doubt and fear? Please know that when God tells you to do something, He will provide you with everything you need to succeed. He will be with you, guide you and will not let you fail. When you step out in faith, you put everything in God’s hands and He will lead you into victory.

I pray Sharita’s story of unwavering faith will encourage, inspire and motivate you to do what God tells you to do and trust Him with the rest. Sharita is married with three children and four grandchildren. She attends Faith Christian Church in Warrenton, VA. And guess what? Her favorite verse is Hebrews 11:1 (NLT), “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives assurance about things we cannot see.” She rocks!
