Special Edition: Easter Reflection

Easter is one of the most important celebrations for Christians around the world. Why? Let’s go straight to God’s Word…

Jesus’ Death

“Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said. “I am thirsty.” A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and released his spirit.” John 19:28-30 NLT

Jesus is Risen!

“But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes.

The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and he would rise again on the third day.” Luke 24:1-7 NLT

Easter Is Special

Easter has always been a part of my life and special to me. Since I was a baby, I never missed Easter service. I remember Ma waking me up really early to go to Easter sunrise service at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. And I was not happy about that. Then in the afternoon Ma and I would attend an Easter program. It was a full day of activities. As a single adult I still attended Easter sunrise service with Ma and loved spending time with her. Then when I got married, Carlos and I continued the tradition with our son Ricardo.

Easter Is Personal

Ma introduced me to God from I was a baby, and I thank her for that because she planted the seed. But I’ll tell you that for 37 years I knew of God but didn’t know Him, not the way I know Him today. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and was baptized when I was in my early 20s but I did not surrender ALL to God until 1999 when I rededicated my life to Him. That’s when I really got to know God and Easter became even more special. Easter became personal to me.

Yes, Jesus loves “me” so much that He died and rose on the third day for “me” so I can live in eternity with God and Him in heaven. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT. And because of what Jesus did, I have this awesome relationship with His Father, my Father. Nothing can beat that. “After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people-an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you. Luke 22:20 NLT

Easter Day Reflection

It’s been 21 years since I started my wonderful life changing journey with God and I have no regrets. What I have is His love, His joy, His peace and His hope deep rooted in my heart that I share with you. And that’s a wonderful thing.

So, on Easter day as I reflect on my 21 years journey with God, I’ll tell you that I’m not the same girl I was 21 years ago. I’m wiser and so much better. I’m blessed! When I reflect on God’s love and all the great things He has done for me and my family, I’m so thankful. Yeah, at times the journey was rough and unpleasant; however, there were so many more times the journey was smooth and pleasant. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are always with me, leading, loving, caring, providing, strengthening, comforting, and carrying me every step of the way.

My journey with God continues and I’m loving it. God keeps using me in ways I never imagined, surprising me with things I didn’t ask for, performing miracles in my life and giving me the privilege to witness the miracles He performs in others’ lives, and every day showing me Who He Is and that all things are possible when you know Him and trust Him. All I can say is, God do You!

What Is Easter To You?

So, my dear sister and brother, God loves you! Jesus loves you so much that He died and rose on the third day for you so you can live eternally with God and Him in heaven. How do you feel about that? Is Easter special and personal to you? Have you started your wonderful life changing journey with God? What’s your story? Please take a moment to reflect.

I hope you are on your wonderful life changing journey with God but if you’re not, no worries. All you have to do, right now, is accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Make this a special Easter; make it the day you start your life changing journey with God, through Jesus. Yes, this is the day you will always remember.

Say this prayer of Salvation…

Our Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus I call on You according to Acts 2:21 (NIV): “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. God our Father, I ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10 (NLT): “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” I do that now! With my mouth I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. Lord, hear my prayer. Amen
