What’s On Your Mind?

Let’s have a Red Heart to Red Heart. What’s on your mind? What’s worrying you, consuming you, bothering you, keeping you up at night, making you cry? Is it your future, aging parents, spouse, children, sickness, work, unemployment, college, church, retirement, bills, broken relationship, new relationship, abusive relationship, longing for a relationship, loss of a loved one, loneliness, addiction, etc.?

Let’s be honest, there is always something on our minds and these things at times make us feel sad, nervous, stressed, anxious, depressed, disappointed, moody, angry and hopeless; it can adversely affect our overall mental and physical health, our relationships and work performance.

I’ve had my share of worries, sleepless nights, and cries. But as I grew in God’s Word I realized that these were not just mere words, these words could become my reality if I truly believed in them and put them into practice. Let me explain what I mean.

God Talks To You Through His Word

Many people read the Bible and that’s it. That was me! Many people look at the Bible as an ancient book filled with stories that has no bearing in their lives. That was me too! Folks, that’s the farthest thing from the truth. God’s Word is the Living Word. Many people say “God never talks to me; I’ve never heard God’s voice.” I said the same things too until I got closer to Jesus, then I realized that God has always been talking to me, I was just not paying attention, I was not listening. God talks to you and me through His Word.

When I catch myself worrying, God’s Word tells me: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT. These are my “go-to” verses when I have things on my mind. Putting these words into practice have gotten me through some tough times.

Do What God Tells You To Do

The key is not only reading but doing exactly what God tells you to do. This is the step many of us fail to take, this is where many of us fall short, in the doing. We have to put God’s Word into practice and make it part of our lives. So when worry tries to creep into my mind, I say hold up, that’s not what God told me. Then I immediately start saying “Lord, you told me not to worry but instead pray about everything and tell you what’s on my mind.”

Talk with God

I tell God all that’s on my mind. Then I say, “I trust you Lord and I know that you will take care of this and you will get me through this situation as you have done before. Thank you Lord for what you are going to do and for giving me Your peace while I’m going through. Thank you for letting me feel your divine presence, for your everlasting love and mercy. I come to you Lord in Jesus’ name. Amen.” Then I go about my business, in peace, trusting that God will do what He said He would do for me. Folks, this works every time! God has never failed me and He will never fail you. “…For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”” Hebrews 13:5 NLT. Why? Because, “God is not a man, that He should lie…” Numbers 23:19 KJV.

Make Scripture Personal

I also speak words that apply to my specific situation believing that these words will become my reality. We must understand that if God said it and did it for someone else, He will do it for you and me. You have to own it! For example, if it has to do with finances, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 KJV. If it’s sickness, “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.” Psalm 30:2 NLT. Believe that God will supply all your needs. Believe that God will restore your health.

When God’s Word is in your heart and you put it into practice, when you make it personal, things will happen and will change for better in your life. If it works for me, it will work for you too. “For God does not show favoritism.” Romans 2:11 NLT. Get it!

Challenge

My dear sisters and brothers in Christ, I encourage you to allow God’s Word to speak to you, to speak to your heart and your situation, it will make the difference in your life. But first you have to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

What’s on your mind? Whatever it is, go-to God’s Living Word!

Hey You! Do you want to go to Heaven?

There is only one way to God and to heaven, His name is Jesus. If you have decided to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, Alleluia! Please know that you have made the most important life or death decision you’ll ever make in your life. You will never regret making this life changing decision.

Now say this prayer…

Our Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus I call on You according to Acts 2:21 (NIV): “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. God our Father, I ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10 (NLT): “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” I do that now! With my mouth I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. Lord, hear my prayer. Amen

When you exhale your last breath on earth, you will inhale your first breath in heaven!
