Your Dash represents Your Life Journey
The Dash between YOUR birth date and death date is priceless! Because that dash represents my life journey, your life journey and the life journey of every living and dead precious soul.
The day we are born is our beginning and the day we die is our end. And between those two dates there is a dash: birth date – death date. This is the way our death is announced and our life journey is represented in obituaries, homegoings, celebrations of life, etc..
Per Merriam Webster dictionary, one of the definitions of Dash is: “a punctuation mark – that is used especially to indicate a break in thought or structure of a sentence.” But your Dash means so much more… it is your life journey!
Every Life Journey is Unique
No two life journeys are alike, every life journey is different… it is personal. Some are short and others are long. But every life journey is filled with unique experiences (good and bad) and emotions: love, hope, joy, peace, hate, laughter, tears, happiness, sadness, anger, hurt, disappointments, fear, anxiety, dreams, goals, accomplishments, failures, decisions, mistakes, sickness, celebrations, regrets, struggles, wins, losses and the list goes on and on. And every person deals and dealt with life, in their own way.
Many have reached the end of their life journey and so will all of us one day. But the good news for Christians is, our death date after the dash is the end of our temporary life on earth and the beginning of our eternal life in heaven. And we will see our loved ones again.
Everybody is Somebody to God
I do want to make a point here… though every life journey is unique, no person is better than the other. Every person is precious to God because God is no respecter of person, of race, titles, degrees, financial/social status, name brands, etc.. God may not like what we do at times but please know that God loves everybody. Everybody is somebody to God! You are important to God. Every person, no matter who you are or think you are, matters to God.
That’s why while we are living our dash, we should treat everybody like somebody. We should want to love more, care more, respect all people and treat each other with dignity, be kind to one another and be more tolerant with those who are different, look different, think different to us. This will not be hard to do when you are led by the Holy Spirit. Okay!
Your Dash is Priceless!
It sure is! Your Dash is priceless because you are priceless to God. God loves you so much that He sent His Son Jesus to die for you and me so when our temporary life ends here, we can continue our eternal life in heaven.
Yes, your dash, your life, is not perfect, not easy at times. You will have ups and downs but the good news is that God is with you every day, all day, getting you through each day.
The truth is, what really matters while living Your Dash is that you live it filled with God’s love, peace, joy and hope, no matter the circumstances. Yes you can! But there is only one way for all this to happen, there is only one way to God… Jesus!
How are you living Your Dash?
Are you living your dash with God and Jesus, led by the Holy Spirit? Are you doing what God tells you to do or doing what you want to do? As long as you are still living, it is never too late to start doing what God tells you to do and live the life God planned for you. But you first have to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. So, I invite you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior right now! Live the best you and live your best life here and now to be continued in heaven.
Bible Reflection
“Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away. Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” Psalm 90:10,12 NLT
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15 NIV
“The memory of the righteous will be a blessing.” Proverbs 10:17 NIV
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4 NLT
“For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down—when we die and leave these bodies—we will have a home in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.” 2 Corinthians 5:1 NLT
“Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:16-20 NLT
